A cosmeceutical is a cosmetic product that combines the properties of medicines and cosmetics. The word was formed by joining two others: pharmaceutical and cosmetic. The aim of cosmeceuticals is to treat skin conditions and improve their appearance.

How does a cosmeceutical differ from a cosmetic?
Polish law does not define the word „cosmeceutical”. There is a general definition of „cosmetic” - any product intended for contact with the outer parts of the human body, designed for surface-level interaction with our epidermis.
Cosmeceuticals vs dermocosmetics.
The term „dermocosmetic” has no legal definition either; it is only colloquial. „Derma” means skin. The term became popular because dermocosmetics historically referred to cosmetic products sold only in pharmacies. Dermocosmetics and cosmeceuticals share the same goal: a better composition and more therapeutic character compared to conventional cosmetics.
